                          About David Yates

David Yates grew up in South Florida; Vero Beach (through 9th grade) and West Palm Beach (through 12th grade at Forest Hill High School). He is a Vietnam veteran, 67-68, graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS degree, and has worked extensively in the construction and elder care fields. He is a pioneer in the development of "intergenerational care" (structured programs with preschool children and dependent elders within the same building that produced centers in Northern and Southern California, Colorado, and Connecticut). He is currently retired and living in Ventura, California.

If lightning doesn't strike the same place twice, what are the odds that cancer would strike David Yates four times - and he would survive? David Yates survived serving military duty in Vietnam, only to return home and find out he had cancer - malignant melanoma, stage 3-C to be exact. After surgery and recovery time, he was finally getting back on his feet when the cancer returned less than two years later. Surgery and treatment again followed, stage 4, and he was given three to six months to live. Yet David decided, with his wife and two children, to rediscover who he was by changing his life and move forward by enrolling at LSU.

More than three decades later, David found himself receiving the news of a cancer diagnosis for the third time.  David has a lot to say, and he around to putting them in book form in an unforgettable and enlightening way.
