CANCER SUCKS

A JOURNEY OF HOPE AND RECOVERY

"Cancer Sucks - A True Story" is David's story.
From the moment of the third diagnosis - this time for colon cancer - David was determined to see this through to its completion. He hadn't let cancer beat him in the past, and it wouldn't beat him this time, either.

"Cancer Sucks" is no "woe is me" story, though. This is a story of survival, of making it through to the other side of illness, and - above all - of helping others to do the same.

Filled not only with personal stories, but also first-hand accounts of what to expect when going through treatments, David's story becomes a new kind of handbook for cancer patients. With practical and frank advice, David not only explains how he has made it through, but he urges us all to pay more attention to our bodies and to take our health into our own hands

Perhaps this is not just David's story after all, but a cautionary tale for all of us.

THE RED PRINCE

Coming 2025

Eric Dunbar is a priest, but not just an ordinary priest. A priest with considerable experience, he gets transferred to a special unit, “The Red Brigade”, which is created by a New England mafia family to rebuild villages destroyed by natural and man-made disasters and to smuggle cocaine from Mexico to Los Angeles.

After several trips to Colima, Mexico to rebuild Guerramo Village, circumstances trigger Eric’s doubt as to the authenticity of the brigade’s mission. Finding evidence of cocaine inside a catholic church in Los Angeles, he discovers that the FBI has pursued the family for years.

Several attempts on Eric’s life and the murder of an FBI agent force him to flee Los Angeles with a member of the brigade. Secured in a cabin in the forests of Virgin Gorda, BVI, they finally feel safe. But the mafia and the FBI are everywhere, and their safety is short-lived.

A COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES

Coming 2025

A Collection of Short Stories is an assortment of stories from my past. Included are several true stories, several that are based on true stories, and the remaining from my imagination (one from the Winnie the Pooh concept).

Each of the stories has been entered at different times to national and local writing contest, one gaining recognition nationally, and one winning second place in the Ventura County writer's contest. Can you determine which ones they are, and which are based on true stories?

As you will see, my intent is to always seek kindness, compassion, and love in everything I write, and I will always seek the truth. I hope you enjoy reading each one as much as I enjoyed writing them.

THE PROJECT

Coming 2026

Few politicians can bear the scrutiny of the press, allowing perpetually secluded skeletons to surface.  But after a zealous reporter investigates the past of vice-presidential candidate, Austin Douglas, the rising political star decides that his only course of action is to temporarily resurrect his skeletons.

Sam Johnson has been targeted by The Project, but he survives a violent car crash and discovers that someone is trying to kill him.  He begins digging and finds that all but three members of a group of friends from the ‘60’s have recently died in freak accidents.  Austin Douglas is one of those still alive.

When Austin learns that his old high-school buddy is the only one who survived The Project, he charters a Learjet to Denver for a quick meeting to eliminate the fortuitous Sam Johnson.  However, the rendezvous with Sam proves disastrous for Austin, freeing an additional skeleton that Austin thought was safely locked in the deepest caverns of his mind.

Sam and his fiancée, Angie, are forced to run for their lives.  A chess match begins, a match that is heavily stacked in Austin’s favor, and becomes deadlier with each move.  Can a pawn go head-to-head with a king and win?

MCCANN - THE BEGINNING

Coming 2026

Many great men influenced the taming of the West, men such as Wyatt Earp, Bill Hickok and Bill Cody, but one family stood above the rest with exceptional courage and strength, and brought solidarity to the towns and states of the West; a family whose pledge to law and order helped limit the lawlessness of gunmen and outlaws; a family known as McCann.

In this first part of the McCann saga, Eric McCann is wrongfully accused of the murder of a noble, and is forced to flee his hometown of Ayr, Scotland, as a stowaway on a ship to America. After mutiny from the crew just north of Charleston, he is wounded and rescued by a Cherokee War Party and taken to their village in the Nantahala Mountains of North Carolina.

Eric spends much of his life with the Cherokee people – marrying one of them and having three sons – Great Bear, Brodie and William. But even though Eric learns to love his people, he never forgets Angela - the girl he left behind in Scotland.

When Eric learns of his mother’s illness, he decides to return to Scotland once more to see her before she dies – and to see if his feelings for Angela still remain.
